The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) has sanctioned a term loan to the tune of Rs.1931 crore to the Andhra Pradesh Water Resources Development Corporation (APWRDC).
According to S. Selvaraj, Chief General Manager, NABARD, Andhra Pradesh Region, the term loan has been sanctioned for the purpose of completing the Chintalapudi Lift Irrigation Schemes in West Godavari and Krishna Districts in Andhra Pradesh.
The scheme will benefit 410 villages in 15 mandals in West Godavari and 18 mandals in Krishna districts. The project envisaged for lifting of 53.50 tmc of flood water to River Godavari in 3 stages to enable irrigation of 4.80 lakh acres of ayacut during Kharif season.
The project also creates reservoir capacity of 14 tmc at Jalleru for providing drinking water facility for a population of 26 lakh in the surrounding villages of the project area.
The project is expected to be completed by March 2022, a release added.
