National Commission for Safai Karamcharis Chairman M Venkatesan on Tuesday inspected Dr MGR Chennai Central Station, says a Southern Railway release.

Later, the chairman interacted with the conservancy staff at the station and received feedback regarding pay, working conditions, insurance, safety at workplace and various facilities provided to them. He also discussed the issues regarding the welfare of conservancy staff/contract labourers with RN Singh, General Manager and Principal Heads of Departments of Southern Railway.

After that M Venkatesan met the representatives of All India Railway Safai Karamcharis Association, All India Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe Railway Employees Association and All India Other Backward Class Railway Employees Association and discussed matters pertaining to the welfare of contractual employees and conservancy staff deployed in Railways, the statement added.
