The Air Force Administrative College, Coimbatore on Sunday announced that it has conducted a ‘Run for Unity’ in the early hours of Sunday to mark the `National Unity Day’ and as a part of ‘Azadi ka Amrut Mahotsav’ celebrations.

Air Commodore Rajnish Verma, Commandant, Air Force Administrative College flagged off the run. More than 360 Air warriors from different age groups along with ladies and children participated in the 7.5 kms ‘Mini Marathon’ with full josh and enthusiasm conveying messages of unity & oneness of the country and importance of keeping themselves and their family fit and healthy always. During the Run, the participants both old and young displayed high spirit of togetherness, never giving up attitude and feelings of nationalism, the statement added.
The Commandant, on the occasion congratulated all the participants and the organising committee for making the marathon a grand success.
In his concluding address, Air Commodore Rajnish Verma said, “We should never forget the sacrifices made by freedom fighters and that ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ celebration is an honour to our freedom fighters and freedom movement. We should always inspire each other in keeping ourselves fit and remain united, harmonious and dedicated to our duties and responsibilities.”
31st Oct every year is celebrated as National Unity Day in remembrance of late Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India. This year, it marks a special year when the nation is celebrating 75 years of its Independence as ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’.
Chennai Naval station
To mark the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, a run was organised by the Chennai Naval station on Sunday. A mini Marathon was also organised by the Tambaram Air Force station, in which over 4500 participated, says the release.
