Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan has paid rich tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the first deputy prime minister of India, on the occasion of his 146th birth anniversary here on Sunday.

Speaking on this occasion, the Governor stated that the contribution of late Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who is known as the Iron Man of India, in ensuring the merger of the princely states and creating a unified India was invaluable in the country’s history.
As Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s birth anniversary is being observed as the National Unity Day, on the occasion, the Governor administered the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge to the officers and the staff of the Raj Bhavan at a special function held at the iconic Durbar Hall at Raj Bhavan, here.
Earlier, Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan garlanded the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and offered floral tributes at Lakdi ka Pool, here.
Secretary to Governor K Surendra Mohan and other senior officers and the staff were also present.
