Navratri reflects women empowerment, as the whole 9 days of Durga Pooja is fully dedicated to women, said Telangana Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundarajan here on Saturday.
Inaugurating the Durga Pooja titled ‘Sharadtsav’23’ organized by the South Madras Cultural Association and Charitable Trust (SMCACT) at Kailash Conventional Centre, Injambakkam in Chennai, Dr Tamilisai said “We are all united by our heritage and culture. Navaratri reflects Women Empowerment and 9 days are dedicated fully to them. This tradition is applicable not only to South India but to the entire country. Navratri Celebrations stands to unite people who are diversified by geographical and cultural differences,’’ she added.

Earlier, Dr Tamilisai offered prayers to richly decorated Goddess Durga at Kailash Convention Centre.
Dr. Anita Ramesh, Executive Committee Member and other office-bearers of SMCACT oversaw the arrangements.
On the sidelines of the Navrati celebrations, amusement facilities for children and spiritual music concert were also arranged at the venue.
