The NCC Group Jamnagar under the aegis and leadership of Major General Arvind Kapoor, Additional Director General, NCC Directorate Gujarat, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu conducted a massive beach cleaning drive at Madhavpur Beach, Porbandar on Saturday.

The ADG flagged off this major event after the conclusion of Madahvpur Cultural fair which was inaugurated by President Ramnath Kovind on last Sunday, April 10, 2022.

The National Cadet Corps (NCC) is carrying out a nationwide campaign to free seashores and river banks from plastic & other waste materials and increase awareness about importance of keeping these clean. The aim of ‘Puneet Sagar’ Campaign was to propagate the message of ‘Importance of Clean Seashores and Riverbanks’ amongst the local population and future generation.
Prominent dignitaries of the area who attended the event included Colonel HK Singh, Group Commander, Jamnagar NCC Group, SDM Porbandar, SP Porbandar, representatives from other civil administration departments. The Principals of neighbouring schools, Sarpanch of adopted village Dharampur also graced the occasion with their presence.
22 Associate NCC Officers, 19 Permanent Instructor staff, 52 Ex NCC Alumni and 300 enthusiastic cadets of 4 Gujarat Naval Unit participated in this massive beach cleaning drive, which commenced with a cultural programme to include folk dance, Nukad Natak and song, followed by an inspiring and motivating talk by Major General Arvind Kapoor, Additional Director General, NCC Directorate Gujarat, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu.
The waste collected by the NCC cadets was handed over to the Municipal Corporation Porbandar for further disposal and recycling.
