  • As part of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahaotsav” commemorating the 75th year of Independence, Gujarat Directorate will contribute in cleaning 12 beaches along the coastline of Gujarat in this year.
  • The beaches identified are Shivrajpur, Mandvi, Dwarka, Ghogla, Porbandar, Dandi, Luni, Gopnath, Daman, Swaminarayan, Gomti, and Balachadi
  • NCC cadets will position themselves as leaders of change and give out a clarion call to officials, NGOs, colleges, schools, shopkeepers, hawkers, tourists and corporations to join hands with NCC in arresting the wanton pollution of plastic waste on our beaches.

“Puneet Sagar” was an activity undertaken last year, by Gujarat Directorate to clean sea beaches and coastline from plastic waste. The activity garnered immense praise and media coverage over print as well as social media channels and involved cadets alongwith NCC alumni, prominent government officials participating in this environment friendly activity. Encouraged by the last year’s impact and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appreciation during Mann ki Baat on December 26 last year and PM’s Rally on January 28 this year have enthused and strengthened the resolve of the Cadets and Staff of Gujarat NCC Directorate to take Puneet Sagar a step ahead.

A week-long ampaign in 2022-23 is being carried out from May 30 to June 05, 2022. The primary aim of the campaign is to raise awareness among civil society and youth in particular about effects of plastic waste and pollution on our beaches and the marine life.  In addition,  NCC cadets will position themselves as leaders of change and give out a clarion call to officials, NGOs, colleges, schools, shopkeepers, hawkers, tourists and corporations to join hands with NCC in arresting the wanton pollution of plastic waste on our beaches.

The campaign will be spread over seven days leading up to the event in which the NCC cadets of NCC Directorate Gujarat will interact with NGOs and Government and Municipal agencies involved in waste processing. The cadets will also interact with shopkeepers, hawkers, pedestrians, and tourists and raise awareness through Nukkad Natak, Awareness rallies, debates, poster-making, poetry, and essay writing. On the D Day, cadets will carry out beach cleaning in which NCC Alumni, local celebrities, prominent political figures, NGOs, senior Government officials, representatives from UNICEF would also be requested to participate. The plastic waste collected will be dispatched to Plastic recycling facility.

As part of “Azadi Ka Amrit  Mahaotsav” commemorating the 75th year of Independence, Gujarat Directorate will contribute in cleaning twelve beaches along the coastline of Gujarat in this year.  CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) help would be sought to maintain these beaches between Puneet Sagar campaigns. The beaches identified are Shivrajpur, Mandvi, Dwarka, Ghogla, Porbandar, Dandi, Luni, Gopnath, Daman, Swaminarayan, Gomti, Balachadi beach.
