Thirty cadets of 4 Gujarat Naval Unit Porbandar of Jamnagar Group participated in the two-day Ex ‘Sea Vigil 21’ with Marine Police Porbandar, under Headquarter Gujarat, Daman and Diu Naval Area, a Defence release said.

The second edition of the biennial pan-India coastal defence exercise — ‘Sea Vigil-21’ — was conducted from Tuesday to Wednesday..

The cadets were given a briefing by Marine Police on the salient aspects of the exercise and role of the Marine Police in it. After a detailed safety briefing and familiarization with Standard Operating Procedures, the cadets undertook patrolling on interceptor craft along the Porbandar harbour keeping a lookout for suspicious contacts and activities. The cadets enthusiastically participated in the Exercise, the release added.

The NCC Directorate has also liaised with the Marine Police to conduct training of cadets on security and patrolling of coastal areas. This would be further pursued during this training year.
The exercise, inaugural edition of which was conducted in January 2019 was undertaken along the entire 7,516 km coastline involving all the 13 coastal States and the Union Territories (UTs) along with other maritime stakeholders, including the fishing and coastal communities. The exercise is being coordinated by the Indian Navy.
