With the COVID 19 pandemic continuing to harrow everyone, especially the frontline workers tasked to mitigate the crisis, in a commendable gesture worthy of emulation, NCC Girl Cadets from Mysuru had come forward with the initiative of donating locally stitched high quality pleated cotton face masks to the district authorities, a Defence release said.
The first lot of masks were handed over to DC, Mysuru on May 13. 2020.
With the aim to contribute to society, the second lot of 1,200 masks were handed over to DC, at RC Conference Hall on Friday, June 26. Pratap Simha, MP Mysuru & Kodagu, and other dignitaries were also present during the event.
As per PMOs directions as “Mask India Movement”, 3 Karnataka Girls Battalion NCC, Mysuru took the initiative of stitching masks. It started when a cadet Kalpana made masks at her home for people from her native village. And more Cadets – Sowjanya, Divya Kumari, Ananya R Shetty, Pooja A, Ranjitha, and Deeksha along with the lady instructors of the Battalion Girl Cadet Instructors K Divya Suresh, Lekshmi Das, Divya KP, all from Mysuru, have joined them in this noble task..
It is a proud moment for them since the initiative was started by the girls themselves for the cause of humanity. They are doing a great deal of work sourcing cotton clothes themselves and stitching high-quality pleated masks.
The work didn’t stop here, The Cadets and Girl Cadet Instructors continue to stitch masks to contribute to the district health workers and the needy wherever required, the release added..
