The BRDS Ahmedabad Times Fashion Week (ATFW) 2022 got off to a glittering start on Friday, which also witnessed a series of promising shows by next-gen young designers.
An initiative of The Times Group, the BRDS Ahmedabad Times Fashion Week has been presented by Darwin Platform Group of Companies, organised in association with Jade Blue, powered by Asopalav, and supported by HSBC.
The first show of the inaugural day was Garvi Gurjari, a collection of Gujarat’s rich textile heritages culture, and tradition. The collection, which showcases craftsmanship amalgamated with modern looks, comprises Royal brocade Ashavali, timeless Patan Patola, textures Tangaliya, earthy and subtle Ajrakh, intricate Soof, and rare detailed crafts like Saudagiri and Mata ni pachedi.
The second show was BRDS, which showcased five collections, viz. Modern Memphis with bold patterns and retro colour palette, The Altalune that celebrates the opulence of the moonlight, Dazzling Dragons that depict majesty and royalty, Paradise Princess with elegant and bold clothing, and The Walking Willows, by students of the premier design institute.
The third show was also by BRDS, which highlighted five collections by the design institute’s students. The collections include Enchanting Egypt, an enigmatic treasure trove of Egyptian deities, Secret Lush with floral legacy and pastel sequins, Coral Rhythms inspired by the undersea kingdom of coral reefs, Tuscan Sun of soft bright and bold yellows, and Pristine Poise.
The fourth show was by GLS Institute of Design, which showcased Ornated, a collection of garments inspired by the elements of nature, The Coalesce, which proffers a surreal experience, Wobble with a plethora of vibrant colours and textures, Pragmatic, the collection representing dynamic futurism imbibed with flexibility in structuralism, and World, which is inspired by simple drawings of kids.
Hastya, the next show presented a collection Elements of Earth, which is inspired by the elements of the planet to promote environmental awareness, Temples of India – Ajrakh, which draws inspiration from temples, Rare Botanica, a hand-painted collection, Metaverse, a collection inspired by the metaverse, and Ruhaniyat – Chikankari, which showcases the rich and traditional craft of Lucknow.
The final show of Day 1 was by Champagne Weddings Collection, 22, by Jadeblue. The collection is inspired by the latest trends in floral work and prints, with vibrant and trendy colours, natural textures, and elegant embroideries giving it a luxurious feel. The styles presented included kurta, koti, Jodhpuri suits, achkan to sherwani, and more.
