NLC India Limited (NLCIL) and the National Power Training Institute (NPTI) have come together to launch a targeted skill development initiative in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu. Aimed at project-affected persons (PAPs) and the unemployed youth, this programme marks a significant stride towards enhancing employability and fostering a skilled workforce within the region.

The collaboration between NLCIL, a state-owned enterprise, and NPTI, a premier institution for power sector training, is designed to offer Post Diploma and Post Graduate Diploma Courses in Power Plant Engineering. With a capacity to train 50 individuals, the programme is not just about imparting education; it’s about creating a doorway to opportunities for those sidelined by circumstances and economic constraints. Inaugurated by Dr. Tripta Thakur, Director General of NPTI, alongside Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, Chairman and Managing Director of NLCIL, the initiative is a beacon of hope for many.
Dr. Tripta Thakur in her inaugural address stated that this kind of CSR sponsored NPTI diploma Tranining course is the first-of-its-kind in the country.
Prasanna Kumar Motupalli, CMD, NLCIL congratulated the newly joined candidates under NLCIL’s CSR programme which is specifically for the NLCIL’s Project Affects Persons (PAP’s) and advised to acquire maximum technical as well as administrative knowledge by this Training programme. He also stated that more such human resource should be developed by NPTI to bridge the gap of Knowledge and Expertise requirement in the power sector to attain India as a developed country.
He also pointed the NLCIL’s contribution in providing employment to PAP’s by awarding 20 bonus marks and also recruiting the entire Diploma in Mining candidates who got qualified under NLCIL’s sponsored programme with Annamalai University. He also suggested for including Renewable Energy module in the NPTI Diploma Course which is offered now under NLCIL’s CSR Programme. He further added that, going by the past trend these NPTI courses are having potential of 100% placements with attractive renumerations.
