Stating that nonstop flights by Air Mauritius and Vistara offer direct connectivity between Mauritius and India, Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) on Thursday said Air Mauritius, the national carrier of Mauritius, operates one weekly flight from Chennai to Mauritius on April 13, 2024 as the tourism industry in the island nation bounces back in the post-Covid period and country seeks to boost its tourism. The road shows were led by MTPA’s Director, Arvind Bundhun, and featuring a delegation of 21 partners from Mauritius.

Road Shows exemplified the robust bond between India and Mauritius and the promising potential for collaborative growth within the tourism sector, said Donald Payen, Chairman, MTPA, here on Thursday.
Participating in the Chennai leg of the Road Show, Donald Payen said India is a key tourism partner for Mauritius and these Road Shows will laid the groundwork for enhanced cooperation in the coming years.
Apart from Road Shows, MTPA will continue its promotional activities through various modes throughout the year in such a way that it would catalyse synergies within the tourism industry, he added.
Reply to queries, MTPA Chairman said that they are in talks with several Airline operators to increase more direct flight services from various destinations in India.
He also said that over 13,000 hotel rooms are available as of now and equal number of guest houses and resorts were also available for the tourists at various locations.

Expressing happy on the success and receiving overwhelming responses from the Road Shows in Pune and Chennai from all the stakeholders, Arvind Bundhun, Director, Mauritius Tourism Promotion Authority (MTPA) said, “I am immensely pleased with the success of our three-city Road Shows in India. Answering queries, Arvind Bundhun said that occupancy rate of hotel rooms vary from 65 per cent to 80 per cent and it will vary and depend up on the seasons.

The Road Show commenced in Pune on the 27th of May, followed by Chennai on the 29th of May, and Jaipur on the 31st of May.
