The Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry, Chennai celebrated ‘Swachh Bharat Diwas’ on Wednesday with great zeal. It also organised ‘Shramdaan – a Cleanliness Drive’ at ‘Nandavanam’, Central Revenue Quarters, 15th Main Road, Anna Nagar West, Chennai – 600 040.

Sunil Mathur, IRS, Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry inaugurated the ‘Shramdaan’ program and administered the Swachhata Pledge. All the participants took an oath to start the quest for cleanliness with oneself and the surroundings.
Senthur Pari, President ExNoRa International, Chennai; Subrahmanyeswara Rao, Executive Engineer (Civil), CPWD graced the occasion.
Sunil Mathur, IRS, Pr. Chief Commissioner of Income Tax addressed the gathering and said, “The 2nd of October is celebrated as the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhiji, who lived a simple life and with his own example reiterated the importance of cleanliness. Hence, Mahama Gandhiji’s birthday is celebrated as ‘Swachh Bharat Diwas’.”
Further, he emphasised that cleanliness is embattled in our tradition and culture, hence we should not litter our surroundings and maintain cleanliness everywhere.
Senior Officers, Officials, family members, Kids, Team from Exnora International Foundation, NGO volunteer students from Meenakshi Sundaresan College of Engineering and SRM Valliammai College of Engineering, Kattankulathur actively participated in the cleanliness drive in large numbers.
Sunil Mathur IRS, Pr. CCIT, Tamil Nadu & Puducherry issued certificate of appreciation to the President of ExNoRa International Foundation. S. Sendur Pari. Other Senior Officers distributed appreciation certificates to all the volunteer students to encourage their active participation in the Shramdaan.
‘Shramdaan’ activity has been organised by the Income Tax Department, at various places all over Tamil Nadu & Puducherry.

On celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission – Swachhata Hi Seva, 2024 Campaign is being observed from 17th September, 2024 to 02nd October, 2024 to strengthen voluntarism and collective action for Swachh Bharat.
