This year Mother’s Day will be an extra special one for one Gujarati man whose mother gave her son the gift of an organ transplant.
Akshaya Dangodra was suffering from chronic kidney disease past several months. His mother Bhanuben Suresh Dangodra took Akshaya to GCS hospital and requested doctors to save his son from trauma he was suffering.
“I had given up hope on my son, and when I met the doctors at GCS hospital, a small ray of hope could be seen. I did not have any clue how to save my son but when the doctors explained, I was convinced and wished to donate one of my kidneys,’’ said Bhanuben Dangodra.
GCS Hospital helped Bhanuben Suresh Dangodra to donate own kidney to her son and offered her free of cost operation. Team of doctors comprising Dr Vivek Kothari, Dr Ravi Jain , Dr Ashish Parikh, Dr Suarin Dalal, Dr Hitesh Desai, Dr Mahendra Mulani , Dr Bhavesh , Dr Bipin Shah, and team of other doctors did the analysis of the reports of patient and donor, and encouraged mother-son duo to undergo the operation.
Commenting on this, Director, Dr Kirti Patel said, “At GCS hospital we believe in serving community and help those needy patients at affordable cost. When a mother approached us that she wanted to donate kidney to her son before this Mother’s Day, we have ensured that we fulfil her wish on time at no cost. This shall serve our purpose of spreading awareness about organ donation.
“Though the operation was a bit complicated, and a lengthier procedure was required, our team of doctors and paramedic staff supported the cause and intent behind the entire process. I thank all the team members who were part of the entire process and performed the respective duties in overall treatment.’’ said Dr. Vivek Kothari and Dr. Ravi Jain, Transplant Surgeons at GCS Hospital.
“We at GCS hospital are always ready to support patients who cannot afford the costly treatment. Bhanuben has inspired us to respect all mothers on earth. We are grateful to support both mother and son to allow us to be part of their bonding and wishing them for good life in future” said by Dr Saurin Dalal, Nephrologist added.
“Since our financial situation is not good and we could not afford to pay the costly treatment, I thank the team of doctors, paramedic staff and administrative team at GCS hospital to revive my son’s health as a gift to my life on this Mother’s Day,” said Bhanuben Dangodra.
