Puducherry registered one more death due to coronavirus on Saturday, raising the toll to 559 in the union territory.
Director of Health and Family Welfare S Mohan Kumar said in a release that a 62 year old woman hailing from neighbouring Vanrapet village succumbed to the infection.
Total patients discharged during the last 24 hours from hospitals stood at 411. He said 337 new cases were reported at the end of examination of 4,829 samples in the union territory, pushing the total caseload to 31,233.
Of the total 31,233 cases, 4,719 were active while 25,955 patients recovered and discharged so far. The Director also noted that the fatality and recovery rates were 1.79 percent and 83.10 percent respectively.
The Minister said 2.30 lakh samples were tested so far and 1.95 lakh out of them were found to be negative and result of examination of the remaining samples was awaited. Puducherry region accounted for 241 fresh cases out of the total 337, while Karaikal had 31, Yanam 8 and Mahe 57 new cases.
