With the aim of creating awareness about Chartered Accountant profession among students studying in class 10 to 12, a ‘Super Mega Career Counselling was organized by the Ahmedabad branch of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) on Saturday at Gujarat University Convention Center. More than 3,000 students from 50+ leading schools of the city were present in this program. ICAI Ahmedabad Chapter Chairperson CA Bishan Shah and his team worked hard to make this programme a grand success.
Ahmedabad City District Education Officer RM Choudhary, who was present as the chief guest, said that in the past there was a belief that the Chartered Accountant course was difficult, but now the number of CA candidates has increased. In his pep talk, he said, “Hard work is of paramount importance to become a CA. If we work hard like an eagle, we will surely achieve success. An eagle will pull its old talons and when new talons grow back the eagle starts plucking its old aged feathers. After five months, the eagle will take its flight of rebirth getting 30 more years of longevity.”
CA Aniket Talati, Vice President of ICAI, said that in the past, the number of CA graduates was 3 to 5 percent. Whereas now in the age of digitalization due to increase in resources, the percentage of result has gone up from 15 to 17 percent. Encouraging the students present in the program to take courses on CA profession, he said that after passing class 10 you can register for CA studies and after passing class 12 you can do CA foundation course. The new CA syllabus, which will come into effect from November 2023, will reduce the number of papers and also reduce the time limit.
Central Council Member and Chairman of the programme CA Hansraj Chugh said, “The role of CA will be important to realize the dream of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India a $5 trillion economy in the coming days. Every CA has to play an important role to make India a super economy by 2030.”
CA Purushottam Khandelwal, Central Council Member and Co-Chairman of the programme, said, “The CA course is not difficult at all for students who are good in mathematics. Currently, the demand for Chartered Accountants in India and across the world is increasing but their number is not matching that. So CA is an excellent option for employment. Students who cannot clear CA final but have cleared IPCC will henceforth be awarded bachelor’s equivalent degree based on which the student can get job as accountant in any leading corporate sector.”
Elucidating the importance of CAs, CA Bishan Shah, chairperson of ICAI’s Ahmedabad Chapter, said, “The percentage of IT return filers in the developed countries of the world is 60 percent, while the percentage of IT return filers in India is only 6 percent. As the number of return filers increases in the coming days, there will also be a massive demand for CAs. After becoming a CA, your responsibility is not only accounting and auditing, you can start a business as per the new startup policy and become a CEO or play the role of CFO in any corporate sector. To become a CA, you need to be passionate. Once you work hard then success will kiss your feet.”
ICAI Ahmedabad Chapter treasurer CA Samir Chaudhary pointed out that there was need to focus and concentrate on the study while the student enters the course.
