The monsoon session of the Parliament will begin on July 20. While announcing the monsoon session commencing date, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi urged all parties to contribute towards productive discussions. However, it will be stormy as the Opposition will resist the UCC issue.

“Monsoon Session, 2023 of Parliament will commence from 20th July and continue till 11th August. Urge all parties to contribute towards productive discussions on Legislative Business and other items during the #MonsoonSession,” tweeted Joshi.
Joshi said that the session will spread across 23 days and will have 17 sittings.
The session expected to begin in the old Parliament building and later move to the new building, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 28.
The session is likely to be stormy with the Opposition joining hands against the Narendra Modi-led BJP government. With the debates for implementation of Uniform Civil Code (UCC) strengthening, it is likely to be fielded by the Centre.
The bill to replace the Centre’s Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Ordinance is also likely to heat the floor. The Centre on May 19 promulgated the ordinance to create an authority for the transfer and posting of IAS and DANICS officers in Delhi, with the AAP government calling the move a circumvention of the Supreme Court verdict on control of services.
While most of the opposition parties have extended support to Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on the issue, the Congress party is yet to publicly denounce the ordinance.
The ongoing unrest in Manipur is also likely to be raised by the opposition in targeting the Centre.
