Allaying the fears of Lord Shani Dev’s devotees on Sade-Sati (the 7.5-year period when Saturn moves through the 12th, 1st, and 2nd houses from the Moon sign), Shri Ranganathacharyaji Maharaj said, “Lord Shani is the ruling god of Kali Yuga. People get scared as soon as the name of Shani Dev is mentioned and people get scared even by Sade Sati or Panoti, but in reality, Shani Dev is a merciful god. Lord Shani is the son of Surya Dev (Sun God) and Mata Chhaya.”
The birth anniversary of Lord Shri Shani Dev was celebrated with great pomp at the ancient Shri Nagarvel Hanumanji Temple located on Amraiwadi-Rakhial Road in Ahmedabad.
Since early morning, Lord Shani Dev devotees had offered oil, flowers, garlands and lamps to Lord Shani Dev. They also offered black cloth, black gram (urad), black sesame seeds, black umbrellas, black shoes and slippers and iron objects to feel the blessings of life and prayed for Shani’s auspicious vision and blessings to always remain.
On the occasion of His birth anniversary, the temple priests and Shani devotees performed Laghurudrabhishek on the magnificent stone of Lord Shani in the Shani temple along with chanting mantras and anointing with mustard oil.
In the temple grounds, Shani Havan was organized and offerings were made for peace and welfare of the human society throughout the world. Along with this, a sumptuous meal and a grand auspicious aarti of Lord Shani were also organized.
On the auspicious occasion of the birth of Lord Shani, Mahant of Shri Nagarvel Hanuman Temple, Shri Ranganathacharyaji Maharaj told the devotees, “In our country, the day of Vad Amavasya in the month of Vaishakh is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Shani Dev. Those who worship and surrender to Lord Shani Dev receive many benefits. If any person performs his duties and tasks with sincerity and honesty, Lord Shani Dev will fulfill all his desires and he will attain endless happiness and prosperity. To obtain the grace of Lord Shani Dev, devotees should perform rituals, chant mantras and perform worship in a ritualistic manner.”
The Holi saint further added that “Shani Jayanti holds immense religious significance in Hinduism. Lord Shani Dev, the God of Justice, is known as the most impactful, delivering results based strictly on one’s karma. For individuals facing tough Saturn transits like Sade Sati or Dhaiyya, this day is considered highly beneficial. Performing rituals with sincerity on Shani Jayanti is believed to remove delays, obstacles, and injustices from life — and bring divine blessings of discipline, justice, and peace.”
