Apollo Hospitals, a pioneer in advanced medical care and India’s first internationally accredited hospital, hosted Her Excellency Louise Araneta-Marcos, the First Lady of the Philippines, during her visit to New Delhi.

The First Lady met with children from the Philippines who have undergone or are awaiting liver transplants at the hospital, along with their families and treating clinicians. The visit included a brief presentation on Apollo’s liver transplant programme, followed by a personal interaction with patients and their caregivers, many of whom have travelled from across the Philippines for treatment in India.

The visit underscored the increasing number of families from the Philippines seeking specialised paediatric liver transplants in India. Apollo Hospitals has emerged as a trusted destination for such procedures, having treated 179 paediatric patients from the Philippines to date, including 83 girls and 96 boys. This reflects the growing confidence in India’s healthcare system among international patients, particularly for advanced and high-complexity treatments. Families from the Philippines shared their experiences of placing their trust in Apollo Hospitals during one of the most critical periods of their lives. During the interaction, Her Excellency Louise Araneta-Marcos congratulated Apollo Hospitals’ Chairman Dr. Prathap C. Reddy and the liver transplant team for their life-saving work and long-standing commitment to compassionate paediatric care. She also personally encouraged and applauded the children for their courage and recovery journeys, expressing heartfelt appreciation for the role Apollo has played in transforming their lives.

Speaking at the interaction, Dr. Prathap C. Reddy, Founder and Chairman of Apollo Hospitals, said: “India has both the capability and the calling to become the global capital of healing and at Apollo, we have made that vision our mission. When families cross borders in search of life-saving care, it is not just medicine they seek, it is hope. And hope is what we strive to deliver, every single day, with expertise, empathy, and conviction. The First Lady’s visit is a powerful affirmation that healthcare is not limited by geography; it is a bridge that connects nations and touches lives. No child anywhere in the world should be denied a future because care was out of reach. At Apollo, we are determined to ensure that the future is within grasp.”

The visit concluded with a group photograph and the presentation of a commemorative memento to Her Excellency by the Apollo leadership, as a gesture of appreciation for her presence and support. The interaction not only reinforced the importance of cross-border medical collaboration but also served as a moment of encouragement and solidarity for the families and children undergoing critical care far from home.
