Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged citizens across the country to actively participate in the Run for Unity on October 31, a nationwide fitness and patriotic event commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The annual event, which also marks Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), pays tribute to the Iron Man of India’s monumental contribution in integrating the nation after Independence.
Responding to a post by Ekta Diwas Bharat on the social media platform X, the Prime Minister wrote:
“Join the Run for Unity on 31st October and celebrate the spirit of togetherness! Let’s honour Sardar Patel’s vision of a united India.”
The Run for Unity is expected to see massive participation from citizens, students, athletes, NCC cadets, and fitness enthusiasts across cities and villages. The event aims to reinforce the message of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’ — inspiring collective strength, discipline, and a sense of national belonging through the medium of sport.
Organised under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports in collaboration with state governments, the Run for Unity symbolizes the blend of physical fitness, civic pride, and patriotic zeal. The run will be flagged off simultaneously at district and state headquarters, with the main event to be held at the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Gujarat.
Officials said the 2025 edition will also feature a Fit India Unity Pledge and special runs led by sports icons, para-athletes, and young volunteers to promote inclusivity and community spirit.
The event is expected to turn into a national festival of unity, reminding every participant of Sardar Patel’s enduring message — that a strong India is built on the foundations of unity, courage, and collective resolve.
