Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have reportedly started to Gujarat from New Delhi. Modi spoke with Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu and directed him to take all necessary measures.
The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has expressed profound grief and shock over the tragic incident in Ahmedabad today. He stated that the tragedy has stunned and saddened the nation and described it as heartbreaking beyond words.
Shri Modi said that he has been in continuous communication with Ministers and relevant authorities to ensure swift and effective assistance to those impacted.
In a post on X, he wrote:
“The tragedy in Ahmedabad has stunned and saddened us. It is heartbreaking beyond words. In this sad hour, my thoughts are with everyone affected by it. Have been in touch with Ministers and authorities who are working to assist those affected.”

Amit Shah said he spoke with Gujarat chief minister and assessed the situation. He tweeted, “Pained beyond words by the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. Disaster response forces have been quickly rushed to the crash site. Spoke with the Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Bhupendra Patel, Home Minister Shri Harsh Sanghavi, and Commissioner of Police Ahmedabad to assess the situation.”
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel took to X (formerly Twitter) to convey his deep sorrow. He said emergency measures were already in motion, with rescue and relief teams deployed “on a war footing.” A green corridor has been cleared for ambulances ferrying injured passengers, and all necessary medical arrangements are being prioritized. Patel added that Home Minister Amit Shah had assured full support from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the central government.
Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi echoed these updates, noting that hospitals are on high alert and all 108 ambulance services are ready. Senior officials were dispatched to both the airport and nearby hospitals, while NDRF and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams reached the crash site swiftly. He confirmed that the Prime Minister’s Office is monitoring developments closely.
Union Minister of Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu expressed deep shock over the crash. “Shocked and devastated to learn about the flight crash in Ahmedabad. We are on the highest alert. I am personally monitoring the situation and have directed all aviation and emergency response agencies to take swift and coordinated action,” the minister posted on X.
He added that rescue teams had been rushed to the spot. “All efforts are being made to ensure medical aid and relief support are immediately provided. My thoughts and prayers are with all those on board and their families,” Kinjarapu said.
Rammohan Naidu, who was in Vijayawada attending the first anniversary events of the NDA Government, rushed to Ahmedabad immediately upon receiving news of the flight crash.

Along with this, Air India has made the dedicated number 1800 5691 444 publics for passengers related query and dedicated Mo.No. +91 9821414954 has been given for the media.
Also, the emergency number of Ahmedabad City Police 07925620359 has been provided for emergency services of Ahmedabad Police and necessary information related to this accident.
The hospital administration has announced two phone numbers to contact for information related to patient-oriented treatment at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital Trauma (Emergency) Center: 6357373831, 6357373841.
Air India Chairman offers deepest condolences
- Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Air India, said, “With profound sorrow, I confirm that Air India flight AI 171 operating Ahmedabad-London-Gatwick was involved in a tragic accident today. Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the families and loved ones of all those affected by this devastating event.”
“At this moment, our primary focus is on supporting all the affected people and their families. We are doing everything in our power to assist the emergency response teams at the site and to provide all necessary support and care to those impacted,” he added.
Further updates will be shared as we receive more verified information. An emergency centre has been activated, and a support team has been set up for families seeking information.
30 bodies recovered
At least 30 persons have been confirmed dead in the tragic flight crash near Ahmedabad Airport on Thursday. As many as 242 passengers and 10 crew members were onboard the London-bound aircraft.
According to reports, rescuers have recovered at least 30 bodies from the accident site.
Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was killed in the aircrash. The flight AI-171 crashed shortly after takeoff in Ahmedabad on June 12. Rupani was among the 242 passengers who were on board the plane. Unverified reports suggest that Rupani was listed as passenger number 12 on the flight manifest. He was booked in Z class, which falls under the Business Class category.
