He further added that this railway station in Bhopal has become a symbol of how modern and bright the future of Indian Railways is.
The inauguration of the railway station comes after the Madhya Pradesh government wrote to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs about renaming the upgraded Habibganj railway station, stating that it will honour the legacy and bravery of the widow of the Gond ruler of Nizam Shah.
PM Modi inaugurated the renamed railway station during his visit to Bhopal for a tribal convention to mark ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’ in remembrance of tribal icon and freedom fighter Birsa Munda.
“The facilities which were earlier available only at the airport are now available at the railway station. The first air- concourse of Indian Railways has been built in Bhopal,” PM Modi said, adding that Indian Railways is an example of how the country is moving forward.
The station has been redeveloped at a cost of around Rs 450 crore in the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode.
Designed as a green building, this railway station has all the modern world-class amenities that also take into account ease of mobility for the physically challenged.
According to officials, the station has also been revamped as a hub for integrated multi-modal transport and has been built with modern world-class features.
