The project valued at Rs 1,932 Crore is slated for completion in the next two years by October 2025. The project will contribute significantly to generate employment opportunities, both direct and indirect, totaling over 13 lakh man-days. Post-commissioning, the Pipeline and POL Terminal at Malkapur will employ approximately 650 individuals.
The Storage Terminal in Malkapur and the Krishnapatnam – Hyderabad Multi-Product Petroleum Pipeline will play a pivotal role in meeting the escalating demand for petroleum products in the state of Telangana. Furthermore, it is poised to enhance socio-economic development in the districts through which the pipeline passes.
As part of this project, the tankage capacity at the existing Terminal in Krishnapatnam will undergo significant expansion, increasing from 100,000 KiloLiters (KL) to 164,000 KL.
The pipeline spans a length of 425 kilometers and is designed with a capacity of 2.6 Million Metric Tonnes Per Annum (MMTPA). It will establish a vital link between BPCL’s POL Terminal at Krishnapatnam and a high-capacity Petroleum Storage Terminal in Malkapur, located near Hyderabad.
The pipeline incorporates advanced safety measures, including Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Pipeline Intrusion Detection System (PIDS) for real-time monitoring, control, and data acquisition.
It will significantly reduce the carbon footprint by replacing the need for 200 tank wagons and tank lorries, thus contributing to a greener and more sustainable future.
This monumental project underscores the Government of India’s commitment to fostering infrastructural development, economic growth, and environmental sustainability.
