Tamil Nadu Governor RN Ravi praised youth as icon in their own village or area. He was delivering convocation address at the 54th convocation day of Madurai Kamaraj University on Wednesday.
He said that youth should become entrepreneurs through motivation, technical knowledge and capital. He told students that people around you look with expectation. He stressed about country’s progress in health education and power sectors. He said in eight years number of medical colleges have doubled. He pointed out that physical fitness through yoga is being acquired. Ayushman Bharat scheme has ensured Rs 5 lakh medical insurance. He remembered the sacrifices of freedom fighters, including Kamarajar VO Chidambaram (VOC) and Mahakavi Bharatiyar. He said that Kamarajar came from humble background and rose to be inspiration for all of us.

- 54th convocation day of Madurai Kamaraj University: 1,33,091 candidates received degrees. A total of 905 PhD scholars are awarded with doctoral degrees and 2 DSc and 5 D Litt scholars received Doctor of Science and Doctor of Literature respectively. 136 students were given medals and prizes
Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Fisheries, Animal husbandry and Dairying Dr L Murugan urged youth of the country to be job givers rather than job seekers. The Union Minister was delivering special address at 54th annual convocation at Madurai Kamaraj University. He pointed out that Indians especially Tamils are occupying high posts all over the world. Manpower from India are the best citing examples of Google CEO. He said Prime minister Shri Narendra Modi is popularizing the power of Tamil language all over the world. In United Nations Prime minister started his speech with Tamil quote “Yaadhum Oore Yavarum Kelir”.
The Minister pointed out that Prime minister had announced creation of Mahakavi Bharatiyar chair at Banaras Hindu University. Youth is the future and will take India forward globally. He pointed that we should strive to realise dream of Prime Minister of becoming job givers. Many countries were unable to revive from Covid-19 crisis. But India has overcome the crisis due to various preventive measures. We gave 200 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines free of cost till now. During the Russia – Ukraine crisis India rescued 23,000 students of India safely to homeland through operation Ganga. Through Make in India infrastructure development is ensured. Yoga which was originated in India has been spread all over the world through the efforts of our Prime Minister. From 2015 onwards International Day of Yoga celebrated every year on June 21. Khelo India has helped sportspersons perform well in international sports. Minister urged everybody to learn their mother tongue. He said that under New Education Policy mother tongue including regional languages like Tamil is given importance .He stressed importance of Start up India through which young entrepreneurs shined at international level.
Professor P Balaram, Chair professor, National Centre for Biological Sciences, Bengaluru rendered convocation address. He said that as we celebrate technological advance we must be aware of limits of our understanding.
Madurai Kamaraj University Vice Chancellor Dr J Kumar said that in the 54th convocation 1,33,091 candidates received degrees. A total of 905 PhD scholars are awarded with doctoral degrees and 2 DSc and 5 D Litt scholars received Doctor of Science and Doctor of Literature respectively. 136 students were given medals and prizes, he added.
