Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Sardardham Bhavan, developed by the Vishwa Patidar Samaj with a focus on the country’s social, educational, and economic development, on Saturday, September 11. He will also perform the groundbreaking ceremony of the project’s second phase.
The construction of the first phase of Sardardham Bhavan has been completed at an estimated cost of Rs. 200 crore. Spread over 7.19 lakh sqft, the state-of-the-art Sardardhan Bhavan houses separate hostels for 800 boys and 800 girls. It has a library with a capacity of 1,000 students, an auditorium with a 450-seat capacity, two multipurpose halls of 1,000 persons each, indoor games, and other amenities. It also houses a gymnasium and healthcare unit for students.
Exclusive hostel for girls
Speaking with the media, Sardardham President Gagaji Sutariya said a girls hostel that will accommodate 2,500 students would be built at a cost of Rs. 200 crore under the second phase of the Sardardham project. This facility will also accommodate 100 working women and managed by all-woman panel.
“Sardardham’s initiatives are aimed at the country’s overall development, and we are fortunate that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will perform the inauguration as well as the groundbreaking ceremony of the two projects,” he said.
Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel, and Union Ministers Mansukh Mandaviya and Purushottam Rupala, as well as donors and trustees of Sardardham will be present on the occasion.
Sardardham has already started construction of regional Sardardham centres in Vadodara and Bhavnagar and plans to build more state-of-the-art institutes at Surat, Rajkot, Mehsana, and Navi Mumbai in the near future.
Elaborating on the students’ welfare measures, Sardardham vice-president T G Jahalavadia said, “Surya Varsani Academy, a training centre for students, will be inaugurated in Bhuj on coming Tuesday. The construction of UPSC Civil Service Training Centre at Mahila Samaj Bhavan in New Delhi is almost complete. It will start imparting training to the civil service aspirants soon.”
Sardardham vice-president Jashvant A Patel added that to help the girls stand on their own feet, Sardardham offers hostel with food, training and guidance at a token fee of Re 1 one. Further, it is also extended to poor and needy students. However, for boys with an annual income of Rs 2 lakh and above have to pay Rs 20,000 per year and those below Rs 2 lakh are charged Rs 10,000.
Free coaching for UPSC-GPSC service aspirants
Throwing light on the UPSC-GPSC Civil Service Training Centre, Sardardham CEO and former bureaucrat HS Patel said, “Admission to this institute is purely on merit. Students have to apply online and based on the shortlisted merit list, a panel of retired IPS and IAS officials will conduct interviews. After this they will be offered online training for a year. Those who have cleared the Civil Services Main Exams will be given mock interview training. Students coming from SC, ST and EWS are given fee exemption and the admission is open to all irrespective of caste as part of its Sarva Samaj Samras Samiti.”
Honorary secretary of Sardardham, CA BK Patel was also present at the meeting.
