The Greater Chennai Police (GCP) has banned the flying of drones, and other unmanned aerial vehicles on Saturday for security reasons, in view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the city, official said on Thursday.

PM Narenda Modi is scheduled to visit Chennai on Saturday to participate in various events, including the inauguration of New Integrated Terminal Building of Chennai Airport, flagging of Vande Bharat Express to Coimbatore at Puratchi Thalaivar MG Ramachandran Central Station etc.
A release issued by the Commissioner of Greater Chennai Police Shankar Jiwal said, “An order under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973 (CCP) and sub-section (2) of section 20 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973 (Central Act 2 of 1974) vide GO Ms No. 736, Home Department, promulgated from 6 am and shall remain in force up to 10 pm on Saturday (April 8, 2023), prohibiting the flying of drones and other unmanned aerial vehicle in Greater Chennai Police Limits, in connection with security measures ahead of the Prime Minister’s visit.”
