PM to flag off Vikasit Bharat Sankalp Yatra from Birsa Munda’s birthplace in Jharkhand

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the Vikasit Bharat Sankalp Yatra from Ulihatu in Jharkhand, the birth place of tribal icon Birsa Munda on November 15, said the Union Minister of State for Information & Broadcasting, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry L Murugan here on Friday.

Inaugurating the relocated office of the TN State Office of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) and CBIC at its new premises at Sivananda Salai in Chennai, the minister said that the nation-wide yatra will be undertaken in all the 2.69 lakh Gram Panchayats, town panchayats and cities situated in 765 districts from November 20 to January 25.

The VBSY will be conducted in all the 12,525 village panchayats and 1,455 town panchayats and urban areas in Tamil Nadu. As a first step, the Yatra will begin from 145 tribal villages in Salem, 105 villages in Tiruvannamalai and 11 villages in Nilgiris.

It will also propagate various central government schemes such as Ayushman Bharat, Ujjawala Scheme, Farmers Assistance scheme and Aadhar enrollment etc, the minister added.

The campaign would be undertaken through the CBIC, the nodal agency of PIB across the state. The street corner plays, cultural events will be undertaken to reach out to every citizen of the country, he said.

DD Pothigai to be re-launched as DD Tamil from Jan 14

The Pothigai Channel of the Doordharshan will be re-launched as DD Tamil with added flavor and vibrant from January 14 (the first day of Tamil Month Thai), Dr Murugan said.

DD Tamil will be competing with private television channels through various programmes including unbiased political debates and other interesting programmes from January 14. DD Tamil is equipped with modern equipment/gadgets and manpower, he added.

Fisheries ministry placed orders to buy 1 lakh transponders

When asked about the frequent arrest of Indian fishermen by Sri Lankan Navy, the minister said that a joint action committee meeting of Indian and Sri Lankan officials will be convened to find out a permanent solution.

Keeping in view the safety of the Indian fishermen venturing into sea, the government has placed orders to buy 1 lakh transponders to distribute them, the minister said.

PIB TN Unit Chief and Additional Director General M Annadurai, Joint Director Nadeem, CBIC Director J Kamaraj, Deputy Director Sanjay Ghosh, Field Publicity Officer M Murali and Media & Communication Officer Azhagudhurai and others were present at the press conference.
