In a significant move towards digital excellence and nation-building, the Department of Posts has announced the nationwide launch of the Next-Generation APT (Advanced Postal Technology) Application (APT 2.0) — a key milestone in its ongoing transformation journey – including Gujarat under the IT 2.0 modernization project on Tuesday.

Postmaster General of North Gujarat Region Krishna Kumar Yadav inaugurated APT 2.0 at Ahmedabad GPO and Navrangpura Head Post Office at Ahmedabad.
Postmaster General of North Gujarat Region Krishna Kumar Yadav said, “Post office customers in Gujarat can now make UPI-based digital payments by scanning QR codes, eliminating the need to pay cash for a range of services such as Speed Post, Registered Post, Parcels, International Mail, and Electronic Money Orders.”
A Special cancellation on APT 2.0 was also released on this occasion by Postmaster General Krishna Kumar Yadav along with Senior Superintendent of POs, Ahmedabad City Division, Chirag Mehta and Senior Postmaster Ahmedabad GPO Alpesh R Shah.
While addressing the inaugural function, Postmaster General Krishna Kumar Yadav stated that, “APT 2.0 aims to modernise Postal services, improve efficiency, transparency, and service delivery up to last miles. As part of this initiative, North Gujarat Region has rolled out APT 2.0 in its all 2,258 Post Offices, including 09 Head Post Offices, 344 Sub Post Offices, and 1,905 Branch Post Offices.”

Indian Postal Service Officer Krishna Kumar Yadav added that, Advanced Postal Technology (APT) 2.0, India Post’s next-generation digital infrastructure upgrade, is designed to provide a better user experience, faster service delivery, and a more user-friendly interface, reflecting our unwavering commitment to providing smart, efficient, and future-ready operations. It is a “customer-friendly” step towards “Digital India” and “Cashless India,” through which Post Offices located in remote areas are even being made hi-tech.
Postmaster General Krishna Kumar Yadav said, “Under IT Modernization-2.0, Center for Excellence in Postal Technology, Mysore prepared the online portal APT 2.0 which provides a single window platform by combining the work of various software, which will make it very easy for the Postal officials to work and Customers will also get prompt service. Now customers will be able to make UPI based Digital Payments by scanning QR code. Other new features provided to customers under APT 2.0 include end-to-end consignment tracking with real-time SMS updates from booking to delivery, having Postman with GPS facility, starting OTP based delivery system. Additionally, more reliable delivery information is updated as photo proof of remarks is captured in real-time. A facility for retail and bulk customer support with self-booking, pick up and drop facility and integrated UPI payment is also available. In future, Digipin (new PIN code system) will also be included in it.”

It is worth mentioning that in Gujarat during first Phase on 8th July 2025, APT 2.0 had been implemented in all administrative Offices, Railway Mail Service along with Post Offices of Mehsana, Rajkot and Navsari Divisions. Now, on 22 July it has been implemented in all Post Offices of Gujarat Circle creating a new era of innovative technology. Before implementing IT 2.0, over 26,000 employees of the Gujarat Circle were given special training. By August 2025, all Post Offices across the country will start functioning under IT Modernization 2.0.
