Postmaster General of the Rajkot region Krishna Kumar Yadav released a special cover and cancellation to mark the Silver Jubilee year of St. Paul School here on Tuesday.
Speaking at the commemoration ceremony, PMG Krishna Kumar Yadav, said, “Department of Posts is taking several new steps in the field of stamp collecting or philately. The aim is not only to nurture creativity among children but also to introduce them to various contemporary issues, events, national figures, biodiversity, and more, through these stamps. Philately plays a vital role in strengthening the education system.”
On this occasion, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Rajkot Division S. K. Bunkar; Principal of St. Paul’s School Father James; Senior Postmaster AbhijeetSinh, and former Principal of St. Mary’s School Father Binoy were also present.
Postmaster General Krishna Kumar Yadav said, “Stamps and special covers connect the past with the present. Stamps are referred to as ‘little ambassadors, traveling across different countries and educating them about their civilization, culture, and heritage. Behind every stamp, there is a hidden story, and it is essential to connect today’s younger generation with these stories. Institutions like St. Paul School are playing a significant role in this. Under an innovative initiative, Department of Posts is opening Philately Clubs in various schools to develop students’ interest in stamp collecting. This initiative would also benefit students’ education. In addressing the students, Postmaster General Shri Krishna Kumar Yadav remarked that philately is known as the “King of Hobbies and Hobby of Kings,” allowing enthusiasts to collect stamps on various subjects. He also said that while the youth today favor social media, it is essential for children to connect with philately, as it significantly enhances their general knowledge.
Principal of St. Paul School Father James said, “St. Paul School is a prestigious educational institution that not only provides quality education but also ensures the overall development of its students.
