The Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU), India’s pioneering national security and police university under the Ministry of Home Affairs, observed Police Commemoration Day on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, with solemnity and national pride. The event, organised by the School of Internal Security and SMART Policing, honoured the indomitable courage and supreme sacrifice of India’s police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty.
The ceremony commenced with Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Bimal N. Patel paying homage to the martyrs, reading out the names of brave personnel who fell while protecting the nation. Prof. Patel reaffirmed RRU’s commitment to cultivating a new generation of officers inspired by the courage and ethics of these heroes. “Their sacrifice is our eternal lesson in duty. RRU stands as a living memorial that transforms remembrance into responsibility,” he said.

Floral tributes were offered by senior officials, including the Registrar, faculty members, and students. The students’ homage reflected a collective spirit of gratitude and commitment to uphold the values of honour, courage, and integrity in national service.
In a message marking the occasion, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said: “The courage of our police personnel is unmatched. They safeguard not just lives but also the values of our Constitution. Police Commemoration Day reminds us of their sacrifices and our duty to continue strengthening the forces that protect India.”
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel praised the selfless dedication of the police force, stating: “The bravery of our police personnel inspires every citizen. Their sacrifice ensures peace and stability in society. I salute their families who stand strong behind the uniform. Gujarat is proud to host RRU, which keeps the torch of service and valor burning bright.”
Echoing the sentiment, Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi said: “Our martyrs’ spirit lives on through every young cadet trained at Rashtriya Raksha University. As technology transforms policing, RRU ensures that the foundation of courage, ethics, and public trust remains unshaken.”
Gujarat DGP Vikas Sahay remarked: “Police personnel serve at the frontline of democracy. Their vigilance sustains the rule of law and the sense of safety we often take for granted. Remembering them today renews our commitment to a more humane and efficient police service.”
The day’s observances concluded with a collective pledge by RRU’s students and faculty to emulate the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of the fallen heroes.
As India moves toward a SMART policing future — Strict, Moral, Accountable, Responsive, and Transparent — the Rashtriya Raksha University continues to shape officers who combine compassion with courage, ensuring that the spirit of the martyrs forever guides the nation’s protectors.
