A young and handsome youth hailing from Pollachi, a serene town in Coimbatore district in Tamil Nadu won the Rubaru Mr India Asia Pacific 2020-2021 title.
This 17th edition of Rubaru contest was held at Goa for four days during the first week of April.

Gopinath Ravi, a software engineering-turned-model achieved this feat after strenuous hard work for the last four years. He got tremendous response from many quarters, which was evident, as he bagged the Peoples’ Choice Award voted by the public.
Speaking to reporters, Gopinath Ravi said he had crossed many rounds of competitions – Talent round, Styling, attitude and behaviour, designer walk, swim wear walk and tuxedo round etc. Of these, the talent round was a challenging and tough one.
“My mother and family were the backbone for the workout during lockdown’’ Gopinath said.
He got the award after clearing the personal interview at the end of several rounds. He was appreciated by the judges for his head standing performance with over 6 yoga poses for 2 minutes and also for Sword and Silambam dance choreographed by him which portrayed Tamilnadu’s heritage. He felt it was a difficult round since all the contestants performed very well on that day and next he also won the fineness round in just 0.5 seconds.
He was appreciated by everyone for the Marudhu Pandiyar costume he wore during the personal interview and 10 Juries praised him as the most for his confidence, inspiring suit and admired him and rated 10 out of 10 during that round.
Out of the 34 finalists, only 7 were selected and Gopinath Ravi was the only youth from Tamil Nadu. He would be representing India at the Master of Misters contest to be held in US some time later.
Though I am receiving calls from film industry and realty shows, my soul aim was to win the International Master of Mister contest. Already I worked in a film along with actor Prabhu Deva, which is slated to be screened anytime now, Gopinath added.
The show director for the Rubaru Mr. India competition was the renowned fashion director Karun Raman from Tamil Nadu.
Guests participated in Rubaru Contest were Rohit Varma, Pankaj Sharma, Sandeep (CEO of Rubaru Group), Show Director Karun Raman.
Gopinath Ravi’s mother and sister Bindhu were also present during the media interaction.
