Months ahead of the state Assembly polls, ruling BJP has been accommodating the disgruntled senior Congress leaders by spreading red carpet to them. Incidentally, all these turncoats, including Hardik Patel, are being sidelined by the saffron party after meeting its ends.

Despite that former Gujarat minister Naresh Raval and former Rajya Sabha member Raju Parmar joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here on Wednesday,. Both the leaders were associated with the Congress for decades.
State BJP chief C R Paatil welcomed them into the party by offering them saffron scarves and caps. A large number of their supporters also joined the ruling party.

Parmar, 72, was Congress’s Rajya Sabha member from Gujarat for three terms – between 1988 and 2006. A prominent leader from the Dalit community, he had also served as a member of the National Committee for SC/ST.
Raval, a three-term MLA representing Vijapur Assembly seat in Mehsana, had served as the minister of state for home and industry minister in the then Congress government in Gujarat. He had won the Assembly elections in 1985, 1990 and 1998.
Aam Aadmi Party has stepped up its campaign in Gujarat well in advance on the plank of good governance, infra boost for health and education sectors, jobs and unemployment allowance for youth, Rs 1,000 monthly allowance for women aged 18 and above, free power of 300 units, empowerment of tribals and slew of measures for farmers.
Both Congress and AAP have started strengthening the grassroot level workers on the lines of BJP and also unleased aggressive social media campaigns targeting the millennials and farmers. BSP also announced its poll fray in Gujarat.
