A new chapter has begun at NTPC Tamil Nadu Energy Company Limited (NTECL) with Ahmad Kaunain Raza assuming charge as the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) with effect from July 3, 2026. A Mechanical Engineering graduate from BIT Sindri, Raza brings more than 34 years of experience in India’s power sector, having built an accomplished career within NTPC since joining the organisation as an Executive Trainee in 1991.
Over the past three decades, he has held several critical assignments spanning Operations, Mechanical Maintenance, Fuel Management and Vigilance at major NTPC power stations, including Badarpur, Kahalgaon, Vindhyachal, Nabinagar, BRBCL, Barh and Simhadri.

Before taking over as CEO of NTECL, Raza served as Chief General Manager in the Operations & Maintenance function at NTPC Simhadri, where he played a key role in strengthening plant performance, operational reliability and maintenance efficiency.
Throughout his career, Raza has earned recognition for his leadership in plant operations, maintenance excellence and fuel management, making significant contributions to enhancing operational efficiency and ensuring dependable power generation.
As the new CEO, Raza will steer NTECL’s next phase of growth with a focus on operational excellence, sustainable power generation and reliable electricity supply, while reinforcing the company’s commitment to safety, efficiency and environmental stewardship.
