President Droupadi Murmu presented three Padma Vibhushan, five Padma Bhushan and 47 Padma Shri Awards for the year 2023 at the second Investiture Ceremony held with grandeur in Darbar Hall of the Rashtrapati Bhawan on Wednesday. The First Investiture Ceremony was held on March 22, 2023.
President Droupadi Murmu presented Padma Bhushan award to Vani Jairam posthumously . She was the legendary Singer from Tamil Nadu – with over 20,000 songs in 18 languages to her credit.
Former Uttar Pradesh CM Mulayam Singh Yadav was conferred with Padma Vibhushan posthumously on Wednesday.
Infosys founder Narayana Murthy’s wife and author Sudha Murty was conferred with Padma Bhushan for social work.

Sudha Murty on receiving the Padma Bhushan award said, “I owe this award to the people of India. I hope my recognition today inspires the younger generation to take up social welfare as a vocation. It is needed for the continuous development of our great nation. I always feel that generosity of a few is hope for a million.”
Music composer MM Keeravani, who composed the song ‘Naatu Naatu’, received the Padma Shri from President Murmu. Keeravani earlier won the Oscar for the song.
Founder of Super 30 educational programme, Anand Kumar, received Padma Shri from President Murmu. The Bollywood movie ‘Super 30’ is based on his life.
Among the dignitaries present on the occasion were the Vice President of India Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Shri Om Birla, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Shri Amit Shah, other Ministers of the Union and dignitaries.
After the Investiture Ceremony, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah and other Union Ministers interacted with the Padma Awardees at a dinner hosted by the Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation at Sushma Swaraj Bhawan, New Delhi.
The Padma Awardees will pay homage at the National War Memorial tomorrow morning (April 6, 2023). They will also visit the Amrit Udyan and Rashtrapati Bhawan as well as the Pradhanmantri Sangrahalaya.
