Addressing the gathering, the President said India’s saints and sages have, since ancient times, shaped society through wisdom and action, and among them, Sri Sathya Sai Baba holds a distinctive place. The President highlighted the transformative impact of the Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust, which continues Baba’s legacy through free, high-quality education rooted in both academic excellence and character-building. She also lauded the Trust’s contributions to healthcare, noting that its free medical services embody Baba’s lifelong commitment to compassion. The massive drinking-water projects that brought relief to thousands of drought-hit villages, she said, stand as shining examples of his visionary service.
Describing Baba’s messages—“Love All, Serve All” and “Help Ever, Hurt Never”—as timeless and universal, the President said he viewed the world as a classroom where truth, morality, peace, love and non-violence form the curriculum. His human-values-based teachings, she noted, are relevant across cultures and across eras.
Underscoring the role of spirituality in national progress, the President said nation-building is a shared responsibility rooted in the spirit of Nation First. Spiritual organisations, she added, can significantly contribute by nurturing values, strengthening communities and supporting social upliftment. She emphasised that the Government of India is working to simplify and enhance the lives of citizens, enabling them to use their abilities for the country’s growth. Charitable institutions, NGOs, the private sector and citizens, she said, must join these efforts as India marches towards the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047.
