AHMEDABAD, OCT 10
President Draupadi Murmu visited Gujarat on Friday (October 10, 2025). Her engagement included darshan and prayers at the Somnath Temple, followed by a floral tribute at the statue of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel near the temple premises.

Later, the President visited Gir National Park and engaged in a meaningful dialogue with local tribal communities in Sasan Gir. During the conversation, she remarked that tribal communities have many paths to progress, urging them to ensure their children receive the best possible education. She was pleased to learn that the literacy rate among the Siddi tribal community (an indigenous tribal group) exceeds 72%.
The President noted that the Government of India has launched various welfare initiatives for tribal communities, urging all to seek information and benefits from developmental schemes and to connect their villages and communities to these programs.
“The nature-friendly lifestyle of tribal communities is an inspiration for all,” she said.
“With the active participation of our tribal brothers and sisters, we are working toward building a society and nation based on equality, justice, and respect — where the culture and traditions of tribal communities are preserved and their rights protected. This is essential for making India a developed nation by 2047.”
On this occasion, the President also shared a message on her official social media account: “Every voice matters. Let us listen, uplift and empower all communities so that no one is left behind.”
Her visit underscores the importance given by the highest constitutional office to Gujarat’s heritage, conservation, and tribal inclusion.
