“The daughters of India have made the country proud,” said Prime Minister Modi, urging the players to share their success stories to inspire others. He asked each member to select three schools to visit every year to motivate students, especially young girls, to take up sports and fitness.
Encouraging the team to promote the Fit India Movement, the Prime Minister said, “You are role models who can inspire millions. Your words and example can change lives.” He also humorously engaged with the players, asking personal questions that revealed their camaraderie and character off the field — from Harleen Kaur’s cheerful energy to Shafali Verma’s childhood dreams and Deepti Sharma’s faith-inspired discipline.
Captain Harmanpreet Kaur reflected emotionally on the team’s journey, recalling how Prime Minister Modi’s words after their 2017 loss had inspired them to come back stronger. “This trophy is the result of years of belief and hard work,” she said. Smriti Mandhana shared that the Prime Minister’s earlier advice on handling expectations helped the team stay grounded and composed throughout the campaign.
Jemimah Rodrigues said, “A team is not defined by how many times it wins, but how it rises after a fall. That’s what makes this team a champion.” Her statement drew admiration from the Prime Minister, who commended their unity and strength of character.
Deepti Sharma, Sneh Rana, and Richa Ghosh shared moving stories of perseverance, faith, and team spirit, while Kranti Gaud and Uma Chetry spoke about the pride their families and hometowns felt after their victory. The Prime Minister personally acknowledged the contributions of parents, especially single mothers, in nurturing such talent against all odds.
Prime Minister Modi concluded the interaction by affirming, “You have made history — but this is just the beginning. Together, we must continue to take India forward.”
As the interaction ended with smiles, laughter, and words of motivation, it was clear that this victory was not merely about cricket — it was about the power of dreams, determination, and the unwavering spirit of India’s daughters.
