Stalin also invited her to the inaugural of the year-long centenary celebrations (2023-24) of former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi (1924-2018) and she has consented to take part in both the events on June 5, 2023, an official release said. The Chief Minister visited the President at the Rashtrapathi Bhawan in Delhi.
On June 3, 2021, the 97th birth anniversary of Karunanidhi, Stalin had announced that a multi-super specialty hospital would be set up on the premises of King Institute of Preventive Medicine and Research at Guindy in Chennai.
At a cost of Rs 230 crore, the construction of the state-of-the-art 1,000-bed hospital in about 51,429 square meters – ground and six floors – has been completed. The centenary celebration’s inaugural is to be held at YMCA Ground in Chennai on June 5, 2023.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin met Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman at the Delhi airport while returning to Chennai.
While the meeting was unplanned, news reports said that Chief Minister Stalin had discussed issues like amounts due to Tamil Nadu from the Centre.

The meeting is, however, being discussed widely for its timing. The ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) is currently in a spot of bother due to multiple issues like the DMK Files presented by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state president K Annamalai, two audios alleged to be that of Finance Minister Palanivel Thiagarajan and the Income Tax raids on G-Square, a real estate company allegedly linked to the DMK first family.
