President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday unveiled the bust of former President of India, K.R. Narayanan, at Raj Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram. The solemn ceremony was graced by former President Shri Ram Nath Kovind, Kerala Governor Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Bihar Governor Shri Arif Mohammed Khan, and other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, President Murmu said that Shri K.R. Narayanan’s life was a testament to courage, perseverance, and self-belief. Rising from humble beginnings, he proved that education, dedication, and moral conviction can empower one to reach the highest constitutional office in the nation.

She recalled that before entering politics, Shri Narayanan had an illustrious career in the Indian Foreign Service, where he represented India’s values of peace, justice, and cooperation with sincerity and dignity. Throughout his public life, he remained steadfast in his commitment to fairness, inclusion, and human dignity.
The President highlighted Shri Narayanan’s deep connection to his home state, Kerala — drawing inspiration from its social progress and emphasis on education. Even as President of India, he remained grounded in his roots and consistently championed the cause of education as a right for all and not a privilege for a few.
President Murmu said that Shri K.R. Narayanan’s legacy of morality, integrity, compassion, and democratic spirit continues to inspire the nation. She urged citizens to draw strength from his example and work towards building a more inclusive, just, and compassionate India that upholds the values he lived by.
