The annual ‘Jal Yatra’ of Lord Jagannath was held here at Jagannath Temple in Ahmedabad in the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Nitinbhai Patel amid the COVID-19 lockdown on Friday.
Nitinbhai Patel and priests of the temple performed the first ceremony of the annual Jal Yatra, which involves drawing water from the Sabarmati river and carrying it on the back of elephants to perform ‘abhishek’ of the deities at the temple.
The holy water of Sabarmati River is being used for Maha- Abhishek of the lord. Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath in Ahmedabad, usually a grand celebration with Lakhs of devotees participating, would be a low key event this year.
