Puducherry registered 43 fresh COVID-19 cases while two more fatalities took the toll in the union territory to 619, a top official of the Department of Health and Family Welfare said on Friday.
The 43 fresh cases were reported during the last 24 hours raising the overall tally to 37,406, Director of the department S Mohan Kumar said in a release.
The Mahe region accounted for 23 cases while Karaikal reported 12, followed by Puducherry (7) and Yanam (one).
The Puducherry and Karaikal regions reported one death each, he said.
The Health Department Director said 48 patients were discharged after treatment during the last 24 hours. The fatality and recovery rates were 1.65 percent and 97.36 percent respectively.
Mohan Kumar said that as many as 4.3 lakh samples have been tested so far and it was found that 3.88 lakh samples were negative.
Of the total 37,406 cases, as many as 367 were active while 36,420 patients had recovered and were discharged so far, he added.
