PATIALA (PUNJAB), APRIL 12
One of the hands of a police sub inspector was chopped off when a group of people attacked a police party outside the wholesale vegetable market here Sunday morning. Six other policemen were also injured in the attack.
The police arrested seven persons, including five ‘Nihang’ Sikhs, from a gurudwara after the attack on the police. ‘Nihang’ Sikhs are said to be part of the mob.
The police said that as the lockdown is in place in Punjab till May 1, police has put up barricades at the entry and exit of the wholesale vegetable market. They are asking passes for every vehicle entering the market.
