R N Singh assumed charge as the General Manager of Southern Railway on Tuesday (Nov 7, 2022). An officer of IRSE cadre (Indian Railway Service of Engineers) of 1986 batch, R N Singh held important positions in Indian Railways and PSUs such as Divisional Railway Manager, Delhi Division, Managing Director/DFCCIL (Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited).
Prior to assuming charge as General Manager, Southern Railway, R N Singh held the post of Principal Executive Director/ Infrastructure, Ministry of Railways and Secretary/Railway Board.

R N Singh has rich experience in planning and execution of mega-infrastructure projects such as Dedicated Freight Corridors, Major Bridges, High Speed Railway etc. and has wide exposure in various aspects of Railway management during his career spanning more than 34 years.
His areas of specialisation include Project Management, Railway Operations, PPP and Strategic Management.
He is an alumnus of IIT Roorkee and has undergone multiple trainings such as Disaster Management from Holland, Advanced Management from Singapore/Malaysia, Strategic Management from Paris and ISB, Mechanised Maintenance from Austria and Executive Management from University of Bocconi, Italy.
