Tamil film Raayan, starring and directed by Dhanush, which was initially slated for a grand release on June 13, is set to hit the screens on July 26. Dhanush has also written the action thriller movie, which marks his second directorial venture and 50th feature film.

On June 10, Dhanush announced the new release date of ‘Raayan’ with new posters in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.

Sharing the posters on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Dhanush wrote, “#Raayan from July 26 (sic).” In the poster, Dhanush looks intense and behind him is a painting of Kali.
‘Raayan’s’ new release date comes two days ahead of Dhanush’s 41st birthday.

The film is backed by Kalanithi Maran under the production banner of Sun Pictures.
S.J. Suryah, Prakash Raj, Selvaraghavan, Sundeep Kishan, Kalidas Jayaram, Dushara Vijayan, Aparna Balamurali, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar and Saravanan also round out the cast of Raayan.

The music and background score of the movie is composed by A R Rahman. This is the composer’s fourth collaboration with Dhanush following Raanjhanaa, Maryan and Atrangi Re.
Cinematographer Om Prakash and editor Prasanna GK are part of the technical team.
After ‘Raayan’, Dhanush’s third directorial venture, ‘Nilavuku Enmel Ennadi Kobam’, and director Sekhar Kammula’s ‘Kubera’ are at different stages of production.
