A third of the candidates or 1.78 lakh who applied for the National Defence Academy (NDA-II) examination for entry into the premier joint services training institution were women, Minister of State for Defence Ajay Bhatt informed the Rajya Sabha on Monday.
Replying to a query of member Dr Amar Patanaik, Bhatt said, “ The NDA (II) – 2021 has received a total number of 5,75,856 applications. Out of which 1,77,654 applications were received from women. Necessary infrastructure and facilities for training of female candidates are in place.”
Medical standards have been notified in the UPSC notification. Physical standards will be finalized before commencement of training. There was no restriction on the number of female applicants who could apply for 2021 National Defence Academy Examination, the minister added.
