R ARIVANANTHAM
Actor Vishal shines in action scenes of ‘Thamarabharani’ and ‘Poojai’ director Hari’s mass masala.
Trailer:
MLA Panneer Selvam (Samuthirakani)’s confidante Rathnam (Vishal) falls in love with Janani (Priya Bhavani Shankar). As he always runs after her, when she was facing troubles from some goons, he came to her rescue once. The goons wanted to forcibly take over the land owned by her. When the hero Rathnam tried to thwart their evil designs, he stumbles upon some secrets about his yesteryears.
Vishal performed well in action stunts and emotional scenes as per the director Hari’s visualization and the script. The bloodshed in this film is needlessly excessive. Instead of infusing new blood in the story line, the director had made a mess of it by copy pasting the hero character from many successful commercial films, including some directed by himself. It seems the director had taken the fans as granted and let them down with outdated script and writing.
The leading lady Priya Bhavani had portrayed her character well. How the strength of writing and its detailing suffers deformity at the hands of careless staging, is demonstrated well enough in a scene towards the end of the film. Before heading out to face the villain for a final showdown, Rathnam (Vishal) hurriedly helps himself to some home-cooked food made by Malliga’s (Priya Bhavani Shankar) mother, and who makes a heartfelt appeal to make Rathnam dine at their house. As an orphan who lost his mother at a young age, Rathnam finally feels the warmth of a family at Malliga’s house, this scene poignantly captures Rathnam’s yearning for maternal love.
Screenplay is so routine and predictable that you don’t care for the random fights or chasing sequences.
Composer Devi Sri Prasad makes sure that the tone of a scene is all over the place.
Hari needs to do his homework better so as to deliver his best with innovative and original thinking
