Ministry of Home Affairs sent the mercy petition of December 16 Delhi gang-rape case convict Mukesh Singh Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday night, ministry sources said on Friday.
The Delhi Government had recommended the Centre to reject the mercy petition filed by Mukesh Singh on Wednesday, one of the four men sentenced to death for the 2012 gang rape, the Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia said.
The Delhi government’s recommendation to the Home Ministry comes less than 24 hours after Mukesh Singh appealed to Rashtrapati Bhavan to save him from the gallows.
