AHMEDABAD, OCT 17
In a world dominated by instant messages and fleeting digital interactions, the Department of Posts has taken a heartwarming step to revive the timeless art of letter writing. It has announced the ‘Dhai Akhar’ National Letter Writing Competition 2025 on the theme “A Letter to My Role Model.” The initiative seeks to rekindle the personal, emotional, and creative essence of handwritten communication — something that continues to hold a unique place in human connection.
Announcing the competition, Postmaster General (North Gujarat Region) Krishna Kumar Yadav said, “In this fast-paced digital age, the warmth of a handwritten letter remains irreplaceable. A letter is not just ink on paper—it’s an emotion, a reflection of thought, and a bridge between hearts.”
He added that the ‘Dhai Akhar’ competition aims to encourage creativity, originality, and self-expression among youth while reintroducing them to the charm of India’s postal heritage.
“This initiative is not only about writing—it’s about rediscovering the joy of slowing down, reflecting, and expressing one’s thoughts with sincerity and depth,” he said.

Yadav, who is also the author of “India Post: 150 Glorious Years,” emphasised that ‘Dhai Akhar’ is more than a competition—it’s a celebration of words and emotions.
“Letters have a soul that emails and messages cannot capture. Through ‘Dhai Akhar’, we aim to connect hearts across generations and inspire people to express what truly matters—thoughtfully, beautifully, and by hand,” he concluded.
