Immediately after the Independence, Father of the Constitution Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar had dreamt of a casteless, social justice, and equality in the society. Despite this caste cauldron has been percolating all over the country. In a befitting tribute to Dr Ambedkar, ‘Rip Up Bury’, a Tamil film, starring Master Mahendran in the lead with a strong social message that there is ‘No caste’ was released on April 14, which is the 132nd birth anniversary of Ambedkar as well as Tamil New Year.
Cinema is one of the powerful mediums to create awareness on casteless society. Director Arun Karthik has succeeded well through this sugar-coated pill, a horror-comedy set in a rural backdrop. It is nothing but a wholesome edutainment with a difference on casteless society.
‘Rip Up Bury’ is written, directed, and produced by ‘Super Duper’ fame Arun Karthik.
The story revolves around three carefree youngsters, who confront a ghost over a problem. How the conflict gets resolved forms the rest of the plot. Though ‘Rip Up Bury’ is a jolly word, it has the connection to the story on caste. The caste has been portrayed as Ghost by the director.
