Heavy rains lashed several areas in Gujarat on Sunday, hampering normal life in cities, including Ahmedabad, Surat, Bhuj, Vapi, and Bharuch due to water-logging and uprooting of trees. According to news reports, Palsana taluk in Surat district received 153 mm of rainfall, the highest in the state, in ten hours.

Due to heavy rainfall a road collapsed in the Shela area of Ahmedabad city. Akhbarnagar and Mithakhali underpasses have also been closed. In addition, four gates of Vasna barrage have been opened.
SG Highway, Pakwan, Chandkheda, Sarkhej, Chanakyapuri, Satellite, and Vejalpur have received heavy rain with thunderstorms and lightning.
Contaminated sewage water backflowing on the Isanpur Char Rasta has spread a stench. The Anand Party plot was viewing like a lake. The road from Chandlodia to Karigam was in knee-deep in water. People living in New Ranip area are facing problems every year due to inundation of water. Maninagar and Ghodasar areas are experiencing torrential rain in the last half an hour. Ghodasar Radhika bungalow was flooded with rain water. From Bapunagar to Bhopal, it was water-logging in all areas.
Lake-like scenes have been created on the Tapovan Visat highway in Ahmedabad. Lake-like scenes have been created on North Plaza Road near Visat. Motorists are forced to drive through waterlogged lakes. Corporation teams tried to open the drain covers to drain the water.
Between 6 am and 4 pm, Ahmedabad city received 62 mm of rainfall, which led to waterlogging in several areas.

“There will be rains in all parts of Gujarat in the next 5 days… A warning for very heavy rain is issued for the Gujarat Region… Orange alert has been issued for Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Valsad and Dadra Nagar Haveli… Isolated places in south and central Gujarat and Saurashtra region are expected to receive heavy rains over the next two days,” IMD stated in a release.
As many as 43 talukas received more than 40 mm of rainfall in just ten hours between 6 am and 4 pm on Sunday. In ten hours, four talukas — Bardoli, Surat city, Kamrej, and Mahuva in Surat district — received rainfall in triple digits at 135 mm, 123 mm, 120 mm, and 119 mm, respectively.
Among other talukas, Vapi in Valsad district received 117 mm of rainfall, Olpad in Surat 116 mm, Valsad taluka 102 mm, Kaprada in Valsad 90 mm, Khergam in Navsari 88 mm, Bharuch taluka 86 mm, Dharampur in Valsad 73 mm, and Morbi taluka 72 mm.
On July 3 and 4, Valsad and Navsari districts in south Gujarat and Banaskantha district in north Gujarat are expected to receive significant rainfall.
